Arsenal 3-2 Manchester United
Date Played – 12th May 1979 (FA CUP FINAL)

This proved to be a thrilling FA Cup final encounter. In the opening quarter of an hour, Liam Brady ran on the wing and threaded the ball to Frank Stapleton who put David Price through on the right and Price centred the ball to the near post. Talbot and Alan Sunderland arrived from different directions and hit the ball at the same time to make it 1-0 to Arsenal. With two minutes of the half remaining, Liam Brady moved into the area, running past Albiston and Buchan, chipping a perfect ball on to the head of Frank Stapleton who gave Bailey no chance of saving to make it 2-0. United fought on and with five minutes left on the clock, Gordon McQueen stuck out his leg in a busy penalty area and drove the ball past Pat Jennings to make it 2-1. The comeback was back on as Sammy Mcllroy picked his way through the Arsenal defence and beat several tackles and stroke the ball past Jennings to equalize.
However astonishingly in the last minute, Liam Brady and Graham Rix combined to set up Alan Sunderland who scored an incredible winner as Arsenal won the match 3-2, with three goals being scored in the last five minutes.
