The 1960 – 1961 season was not a great one for the Gunners as they finished the season off in 11th position, considerably lower than they had reached in previous campaigns. They were poor in the FA Cup, suffering elimination in the third round of the competition, defeat against Sunderland.
The 1961- 62 campaign was the last one that saw George Swindin in charge of Arsenal. The Gunners only managed a tenth position finish and were considerably poor in the FA Cup, only reaching the forth round, suffering defeat against Manchester United.
Arsenal goal keeper left the club after eleven years playing in goal for the Gunners. David Court made his debut for Arsenal during the 1962 -63 season however the campaign was most notable for the arrival of new manager, Billy Wright. The gunners slightly improved in the league, finishing the campaign off in seventh place and they reached the fifth round of the FA Cup, crashing out against Liverpool. They met Liverpool the following year in the FA Cup, and once again suffered defeat against the Merseysiders.
The 1964- 1965 season saw a decline in Arsenal’s fortunes as they slipped in the league to a 13th position finish. Arsenal had a fairly decent side during this period, a team including Alan Skirton, Jim Furnell, David Court and George Eastham.
